Forged Knife Maintenance
Our knives are built and designed to last a lifetime. Majority of our knives do not require any special maintenance, simply hand wash and dry the blades after each use. Many of our sets are made with rust resistant steels that will not rust even if you forget to wash/dry the blade off.
Damascus Steel Knife Care
We forge real Damascus steel knives by combining 15N20 Forged Steel with 1095 High Carbon steel and layering them together as has been done for generations. This results in a blade that can hold a shockingly sharp edge, but requires a little more maintenance than our other knives.
To properly care for Damascus steel knives, clean the blade with warm, soapy water and dry after each use. We also recommend applying a light coat of mineral oil at regular intervals to help protect from moisture and oxidation.
Should any rust appear, treat it by gently rubbing the affected area with apple cider vinegar or lemon juice, followed by a wash, thorough drying, and re-oiling. With use, Damascus steel knives will develop a gradual and unique patina on the blade which helps protect the knife from corrosion.
Wooden Handle Care
Many of our knives use natural wood handles. Because this is a living material, it can shrink and expand if exposed to moisture for a long period of time. For the absolute best longevity, we recommend to try to keep moisture off the knives and handles as much as possible.
Never put your hand made knives in the dishwasher as extreme heat and harsh detergent can cause damage to both the blade and handles.
